DIXIE CRYSTALS SUGAR-WALT DISNEY WORLD COOK BOOK - 1972

Hey y’all!! I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas holiday! I know I did! I’m still enjoying my Christmas break and luckily, I still have five more days to go! Though I must be honest, I’m starting to miss work. I know!! Crazy, right? What can I say, I love my job! I’m a lucky girl.

Talk about lucky, let me tell you, my gorgeous, sweet husband Josh got me the BEST Christmas present ever and I can’t wait to share it with you all! If you know me personally, it will come to no surprise. However, for those of us just getting acquainted, I should tell you that I am a HUGE Disney World freak! I absolutely adore Disney World! It is truly my happy place! Well, my wonderful husband found something that encapsulates my love of vintage cook booklets AND Disney World all in a petite and perfect present. He gave me a rare 1972 Walt Disney World Dixie Crystals cook book that was given out to guests as a park souvenir! Oh, it’s so fabulous! It measures 5.25”x 5.25” and has 39 pages with 39 yummy recipes for goodies that were served in the park, the Contemporary and Polynesian Resort Hotels and in some of the shops and restaurants there in 1972.  There is also a center spread illustration of the Dixie Crystals Sweet Shop in the Market House of Walt Disney World.  Have a look!

There are a couple of recipes I think I may have to try out myself. This cheesecake is definitely one of them!

Y’all…I have never in my 46 years made a meringue of any sort successfully. I tried my hand at French macarons not long ago. I actually attempted to make them Mickey Mouse shaped! They tasted good but they were so ugly y’all. They cracked! So, when I see recipes for big meringues like this, I get excited and for about a second I feel inspired and then I remember my macarons and chicken out FAST! Maybe one day I’ll get the courage to try something like this one. Then again… Well, this next recipe is right up my alley! Key lime pie is my favorite!

Isn’t she a beauty? Oh, I think so! Did you all get some good vintage gifts for Christmas? Any old cookbooks? I’d love to hear about them! Tell me about them in the comments!

Next, I’ll be sharing another favorite of mine from the 1920’s. A fairy themed cookbook from Fisher Flouring Mills Company. Till next time, toodles!
