1976 Disneyland Fun Food Cook Book

Another Disney cookbook!! If you know me then you know how excited I was to find this one! The 1976 Disneyland Fun Food Cookbook by Florine Sikking and Judy Zeidler.

Now I’ve done about as much research as I can stand and I’m not positive but this looks to be the earliest Disney park themed cookbook I could find. If you know of one that’s older, please let me know! This one is an oldie like me! Published one year and one month after my birthday.

I love the groovy cover of this one and the graphics are fantastic! That fabulous 70’s color palette of brown, yellows and orange. All that’s missing is some avacado green! There are 97 recipes and 128 pages altogether which includes the recipe index, cooking tips and measurement information. The book is divided up into sections by the “lands” within the Disneyland park including New Orleans Square. Each page has illustrations of Disney themed rides, characters and iconic park attractions.

The title “Fun Food” is deceiving in my opinion. With rather foreign recipes like “Pickled Tongue Pâté”, well, foreign to a small town Alabamian like myself, I’m just not feeling the “fun food” vibe” with this cookbook. Though, there are a few dessert recipes that look good. The “Fantasyland Cheesecake” for one, sounds really delicious but what cheesecake doesn’t? I’ll let you decide for yourself, have a look!

Like anything you see? Do you have any special food memories from the Disney theme parks you’d like to share? I’d LOVE to hear about them! Let me know in the comments!
