BANANA BUTTER HIMMEL FUTTER FLUFFERNUTTER! - PART 2

Finally!! Posting my 2nd part of the Himmel Futter creation! Oh life, it does throw you curveballs sometimes and it takes a little while to get back on track but I’m good now so, let’s see how it turned out, shall we?

Let me start by telling you about the fantastic recipe booklet I got my banana butter recipe from. Secrets of the Jam Cupboard was published in 1930 and has 23 pages of yummy recipes and really cute, colored illustrations. Have a look…

The recipe for my banana butter…

I bought the cutest blue Ball jars and was a little disappointed after I had filled them with the banana butter. Blue and yellow makes green, yes? Yes. Bad choice. The green hued contents of my cute little jars is a tad off putting. Lesson learned.

Now to put my Banana Butter Himmel Futter Fluffernutter all together, I sliced two bars of the Himmel Futter, slathered a layer of banana butter between them and topped it off with what was supposed to be a swirl of peanut butter and Fluff marshmallow cream. My swirl quickly sank into a sad sliding glob of goo. Sigh…

Now for the most important part, how’d it taste? It was SWEET! The banana butter is just way too sweet for this. It should be saved for peanut butter toast. I think sliced bananas would have been much better and I did like the peanut butter with it but again, the Fluff was a little much. The Germans had the right idea when they served their Himmel Futter, sliced bananas and oranges with whipped cream would be fantastic! If you have a really intense sweet tooth and like me, you just enjoy saying “Banana Butter Himmel Futter Fluffernutter” by all means, try this concoction, this sticky sweet creation of mine that, in my opinion, has a FABULOUSLY fun name!
